Our facilities are located in Amarillo and Canyon, Texas and are now called “home” to residents of local and surrounding communities.
Hear from our founder and CEO, Lonnie Shaw in the video below.
Home-style dining, weekly on-site salon stylist, and an on going social calendar that fosters relationships, are just some of the amenities that make our family oriented community stand out. Tour today and discover why our residents say SkyWest simply, “feels like home.”
Our team has established ourselves in the community as trusted care takers and health providers. Each member of our staff is carefully chosen and trained to have a heart for caregiving. Because each member of our team shares in our same core values, our employee longevity far exceeds the industries standards.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his kids and grandkids. Lonnie also enjoys fishing and hunting. And if you’ve met him, you know he loves the Resident Joy Giver of SkyWest, Rey the dog!
Lonnie invites you to visit SkyWest any time. His door is always open.
Lonnie Shaw is the owner of SkyWest Assisted Living in Canyon and Amarillo. Lonnie graduated from Canyon High School in 1979. He and his wife, Tricia, who also graduated from Canyon, have been married since 1980. They have four children Brandon, Brittni, Brady and Bryson. Lonnie and Tricia are blessed with six grandchildren: Abrie, Madylin, Waylon, Liberty, Lincoln and Callahan.
Lonnie has been an entrepreneur since 1986 and has worn many hats. He has owned and operated businesses including janitorial services, remodeling and restoration, and carpet cleaning. However, owning an assisted living is his calling and in his own words, “I am where I am supposed to be.”
Lonnie is a natural for this business. He bought SkyWest in 2009 while his father, Doyle Shaw, was a resident. He loves the residents and the staff like they are his family.

“SkyWest Living has been an amazing new home for both of our mothers. They have both been treated with lots of loving kindness and affection, making them feel right at home.
Lonnie Shaw is the owner and administrator of SkyWest Living and he has a huge heart for people. His father lived here, too, which confirms his faithful dedication to creating a great quality of life for the residents.”
— Carol McNeer
When we moved my Mother to SkyWest we were immediately greeted at the door. They told my mother “Welcome Home.” And indeed she was home. We joined a loving SkyWest family that became our family. Mother was always treated with respect, patience, and love.
—Delton Moore
During the final days of our Mom’s life, they even stepped up the care to make sure that not only she had her needs met, but that we were offered assistance as well. I truly believe that the staff of SkyWest were angels showing the love of God to those entrusted to their care. Since the death of our Mom, we continue to see them at least once a month to sing and provide music for a little while. Each time, we see the loving care continue for the current residents and family members.
We understand first hand that this can be one of the hardest decisions your will face and we are here to help you understand how to begin that first step.
While SkyWest fully supports our residents independence, that doesn’t mean your loved one should be isolated from others. Social isolation, especially for seniors, has been linked to depression, anxiety, dementia, and many other mental health problems. Our family oriented assisted living community is focused on bringing people together through fun activities for all of our residents and their families.
